The False Church and Friendship With the World

The False Church and Friendship With the World

I watch the trends in the modern church—not because they excite me, but because I’ve read enough Scripture and seen enough history to know that the so-called “new” is rarely anything more than old compromise with a fresh coat of paint. Sometimes it’s worldly compromise. Sometimes it’s outright heresy. But it’s never new.

2 Cor 5:10 – Can Anyone Actually Do “Good”?

2 Cor 5:10 – Can Anyone Actually Do “Good”?

Problem: Most people will read the title of this article and immediately think, “Of course a person can do good.” After all, Jesus said, “A good (agathos) man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things” (Matthew 12:35). Paul instructed Christians to (simply) “do good to all” (Galatians 6:10). He later reminded the disciples in Corinth that “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or evil” (2 Corinthians 5:10). And John wrote: “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God” (3 John 11).

1 Cor 15:31 – Do Believers Need to Die Daily?

Problem: Paul’s personal statement, “I die daily” (1 Cor. 15:31) is somewhat enigmatic. Christians, perhaps with this verse in mind, might say, “I need to die to self and die to sin daily.” The context of Paul’s statement, both in the verse that precedes and in the verse that follows, speaks of Paul being persecuted for the cause of Christ. He was constantly exposed to danger (1 Cor. 15:30) and he was under vicious attacks for the sake of the gospel (1 Cor. 15:32). So his expression, “I die daily” probably meant that he was exposed to death every day.

Is God just an evolutionary necessity?

Is God just an evolutionary necessity?

“The God-idea met human needs, not vice versa.”

Have you ever come across an argument denying the existence of God that you’ve never heard before? First Peter 3:15 tells us to always be ready to give an answer, but new attacks against God’s Word bombard us all the time! How do we respond to arguments that seem brand-new?

UFOs – What is The Christian View of Them?

UFOs – What is The Christian View of Them?

To deal with the subject of UFOs I have taught people for over thirty years to ask three very important questions. Almost everyone Christian or not has asked questions regarding UFOs. What I noticed years ago was that unbelievers only asked two of the three questions. Believers are compelled by the scripture itself to ask all three questions. It is the answer to the third question that raises a warning flag on the whole matter.
