In this clip from Jillian Michaels’ Keeping It Real podcast, she speaks with professing Christian David Harris Jr. about faith, Jesus Christ, morality, and Christianity. Jillian Michaels explains that she struggles with the idea that Christianity teaches that she is going to hell because she is married to a woman, and asks David Harris Jr. how she can reconcile this with her understanding of God, love, and morality. David Harris Jr. then leads Jillian Michaels in a prayer to invite Jesus into her life. But is this actually the biblical gospel? In this video, I examine David Harris Jr.'s presentation of the gospel and explain several serious problems with his approach to salvation, repentance, faith, forgiveness, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit. The Bible does not simply tell us to “start with Jesus” and assume that everything else will work itself out. The gospel calls us to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, recognizing Him as Lord and trusting in His death and resurrection for salvation. I also examine what happens when someone is encouraged to use their feelings and emotions as evidence that they have encountered God. This is not an attack on David Harris Jr.'s intentions. There are millions of people today who call themselves Christians but have never truly been born again. Can a true Christian remain a "carnal Christian" for life? Many Christians have been taught that someone can be genuinely saved while living in habitual, unrepentant sin with no evidence of spiritual transformation. But is that really what the Bible teaches?
