If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 18:19)
The above scripture is what we refer to as the prayer of agreement. Basically, it is united prayer and it is very effective. The following keys are essential in the prayer of agreement.
1.) Notice it says if two of you shall agree… Where? on earth… You do not have to be in the same room with someone in order to pray the prayer of agreement. You do not even need to be in the same city or country, for that matter. If two people “on earth” pray the prayer of agreement, it shall be done for them…
2.) Another key word in this verse of Scripture is the word, “ask.” Some interpret this to mean, if two of you agree on earth, it shall be done. No that is not what it says. It says, if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything, that they shall ask…
Some people think the following is the prayer of Agreement; “Oh we thank You, Father, that according to Your Word that such and such is done in Jesus’ name Amen.”
No. That is not asking. If you wanted someone to hand their Bible to you, would you say to them, “Thank you for handing me your Bible.” No, you wouldn’t do that. You would say, “Would you please hand me your Bible?” Isn’t that right? God wants you to make a specific request to Him.
3.) The last key in the prayer of agreement is the word “agreement.” Both parties must be in agreement with what they are praying about. It must be in accordance with God’s Word. You need to have a scripture both parties can base their faith on.
We would consider it an honor to unite ourselves together with you in prayer. Remember, it does not matter where you are. Space and distance that separate us physically are not an obstacle in the realm of the spirit.
If you have a prayer request, make sure you are specific. Know exactly what it is that you want to ask God for. You should also have a scripture to base your faith on.
