I've always wondered about the Hebrew Israelites and what they believe. So I asked my friend and theology professor, Robert Solberg, who is very knowledgeable about this topic, to come on and tell me about them. My curiosity is basic: what do they believe, and where does this come from? We break down the “lost tribes” narrative, why this movement is deeply race-based, how Torah-keeping gets mixed into the gospel, and why Hebrew Israelism targets the church instead of unbelievers. We also talk about the aggression, control, and cult-like dynamics people experience.
