I've been going down a weird rabbit hole of strange spiritualities over the last few months, and somewhere along the way I came across the Salem witch trials. On some level, we've all heard of Salem, mostly through pop culture, but few people actually know the whole story. The more I looked into it, the more I realized it is one of the clearest examples I've seen of scapegoating, gullibility, hysteria, groupthink, emotional reasoning, and a total collapse of critical thinking. Something that unfortunately is still alive and well today on all fronts. It's really a cautionary tale. I learned a lot while researching this, and I hope to share what I learned to help educate. 👉My Website: https://www.melissadougherty.co/ 💡Want to know more about this "New Thought" thing? What do false teachers, cult leaders, high-control groups, and political propaganda all have in common? They thrive when they can get you to stop thinking clearly and start reacting emotionally. If they can bypass your reason and hijack your fear, outrage, guilt, or desire to belong, they do not have to prove what they are saying is true. They just have to make it *feel* true. 👉My Website: https://www.melissadougherty.co/ 💡Want to know more about this "New Thought" thing? Belle once thought God hated her, and now she’s helping Muslims come to know Jesus. As Islam continues to grow here in America, Christians are sure to be challenged by them. Maybe you've seen her on your social media feed talking to Muslims with unapologetic boldness. She shares her testimony (wow), how she got into apologetics, and why she approaches conversations with Muslims a little differently. Imagine opening the Bible and being told that nearly every major character in Genesis has been misunderstood. The Creator is not really the highest God. The serpent is not really the deceiver. Eating the forbidden fruit is not humanity’s fall into sin. And Christ did not primarily come to forgive humanity for rebelling against God. This is the basic Gnostic reversal of the biblical story. I'm positive you've heard of other Gnostic beliefs. Things like the material world being evil, your spirit being the "real" you, or needing some kind of secret esoteric knowledge to understand the truth? That Gnosticism was basically another version of Christianity after Jesus died, and that the Christianity we have today is just the version that happened to "win" because Christians suppressed the others. Where did those ideas come from? And why do they still show up today? I hear the interwebs use the word "Gnostic," and I don’t think it means what they think it means. Gather around, and let me tell you the upside-down Gnostic story of creation and the backward gospel. By the end of this video, I hope you see why John called these sorts of teachings **anti**- Christ. 👉My Website: https://www.melissadougherty.co/ 💡Want to know more about this "New Thought" thing? This is rarely discussed. What is actually going on when a psychic medium is talking to a spirit about a crime? Do psychic mediums actually know exactly who they're talking to? What happens when a spirit gets something wrong? What happens when you tell a spirit "no"? Jenn Nizza is a good friend of mine and a former psychic medium. She doesn't just explain these things, but warns against the dark spiritual reality behind mediumship and why the spirits involved may not be who they claim to be. What the New Thought Law of Attraction isn't actually... a "Law?" It was not discovered, but instead it was created. Not only this, but in the Christian church, there is a Christian counterpart to the Law of Attraction in teachings like positive confession. The Word of Faith movement has adopted many New Thought teachings. But who did this? Who actually made this a "Law" and then duped millions into believing it? Why? How did they do this? Come geek out with me. 👉My Website: https://www.melissadougherty.co/ 💡Want to know more about this "New Thought" thing? When I came out of nopey New Age Thought nonsense, I had a few hang-ups that I had to overcome. The biggest question mark above it all was: How do I make sense of the Bible? I truly didn't understand how we got the Bible, how it was put together, or whether any books were missing. And I didn't understand how, if men wrote the Bible, there weren't tons of mistakes and biases that were shoved in there. So I had to learn to trust the Bible. I want to share what helped me through that process, and what I’ll call the foundational truth of Scripture that really solidified the Bible as the word of God. 👉My Website: https://www.melissadougherty.co/ 💡Want to know more about this "New Thought" thing? For Charlie. And Erika. Never in my lifetime did I think I would see the kind of evil we have witnessed over the last year. It's changed us. Spread the gospel. Talk to people you disagree with. Love them. Do something kind for them. Instead of getting mad and burning and breaking things, create something beautiful instead. Do what's right and good, not what's easy and popular. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 BIG thank you to Aftershock Entertainment for filming and editing this video. BIG thank you to Tamara and Hannah for helping.
