False Teaching

Luke 1:42 – Was Mary sinless?

Problem: Roman Catholic scholars argue that Mary was sinless, because she was referred to as “blessed” in this passage. Moreover, the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception (i.e. the sinlessness of Mary) was declared by Pope Pius IX in 1854. Was Mary sinless or not?

Luke 1:28 – Should Christians worship Mary?

Problem: The angel said Mary was the most blessed of all women, declaring to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” (Luke 1:28) Although the highest form of worship is reserved for God alone (latria), Roman Catholics believe that Mary should be venerated in a lesser sense (hyperdulia) as the most highly favored above all other creatures since she is the “Mother of God” and “Queen of Heaven.” Why do Protestants not give Mary her proper due?

Mark 14:22 – Does this statement support the Roman Catholic view of transubstantiation?

Problem: Jesus said, “This is My body” (Mt. 26:26). A literal reading of the text would mean that the bread became Jesus’ body. Catholic apologist David Currie writes, “If he had meant to teach Evangelicalism, he could have said in a clear way ‘This bread only represents my body.’ But he didn’t say either. Yet he was clear. In the clearest way he could say it, he said, ‘This is my body’ (Mt. 26:26-28).”[1] Is this the case?

Channeling

1 Sam 28:7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor. 8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

Acts 16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: 17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation. 18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Do Christians and Muslims Worship the Same God?

by Casey McFall

The short answer is NO—Muslims and Christians do not worship the same God. In fact, even Jews do not worship the same God (see below). A part of the reason why so many people believe that Muslims and Christians worship the same God is because Muslims claim to worship a monotheistic god who was the “god” of Abraham and shares many characteristics with the true God. In fact, Muslims are actually taught that they worship the same God as Christians. Surah 29:46 in the Qur’an states: “Do not dispute other than in a good way with the people of Scripture, except for those of them who do evil; and say: ‘We have faith in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you. Our God and your God are One, and to Him we submit [ourselves].’”

The Tangled Web of Mormonism

The characteristics of the world’s largest cult.

By Dr. Stan Fleming

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when at first we practice to deceive.” This old adage would be a perfect epitaph inscribed on the tombstone of Joseph Smith. What started out as a profiteering scheme, by a young man known for his occult activities and tall tales, has now become a multi-billion dollar religious organization known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) whose main headquarters are located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today, it influences millions of people and is trying desperately to present itself as part of mainline Christianity. But what is it really?

The Mormon Deception

By Michael Houke

The Church of Latter Day Saints was formed by Joseph Smith in 1820. While searching for God Joseph Smith practiced occultism (he was heavily involved in the occult) and one night “an angel of light” came to him. He claimed this angel was named Moroni. And Moroni revealed to him the truth about Christianity. While alive, Joseph Smith made about 65-70 prophecies which only about 5 or 6 has come to pass, making him a false prophet. This is why the LDS Church will not make them known to the public.
