Problem: This passage refers to a time “before any king ruled over the Israelites.” But, critics argue, this was supposedly written 500 years before Israel became a monarchy. If this is truly Mosaic authorship, how could the author have known about the future kingship in Israel?

Genesis 17:10 – Isn’t circumcision a cruel and unusual act?
Problem: Atheist Christopher Hitchens decries the act of circumcision as “the sexual mutilation of small boys.”[1] Is this the case?

Genesis 3:16 – God multiplies the pain of women in child bearing
Problem: Why would God increase the pain of childbirth because of Eve’s disobedience to Him? Some think it is an unfair penalty to make all women suffer for Eve’s sin.

Genesis 3:16 – Does this passage sanction men ruling over women?
Problem: God tells Eve, “Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you” (Gen. 3:16). Did God really command that men should rule over their wives?

Genesis 3:9 – Doesn’t God saying “Adam, where are you?” show God didn’t know something?
Problem: Doesn’t God saying “Adam, where are you?” show God didn’t know something? No, because it wasn’t a question for God to learn from, but to inform Adam about his condition.

1 John 5:7-8 – Do modern translations want to avoid the Trinity?
Problem: In the King James Version, John writes, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one” (1 Jn. 5:7-8). 1 Peter 1:17 – Are we supposed to fear God or not? (cf. 1 Jn. 4:19)
Problem: Peter writes, “Conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth” (1 Pet. 1:17). Yet other passages urge us not to fear God: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love” (1 Jn. 4:18). Which is true?

Heb10:26-32 – Does this passage teach that we can lose our salvation from willful sin?
Problems: The author of Hebrews writes, “For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” (Heb. 10:26). Does this threaten the notion of eternal security?

Hebrews 7:3 – Does this verse support reincarnation?
Problem: Hebrews tells us that Melchizedek, “having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.” Since Jesus assumed this priesthood (7:21), some reincarnationalists use this verse to prove that Jesus is a reincarnation of Melchizedek. Are they correct?

Heb 5:7 – Did Christ have flesh only before His resurrection?
Problem: Speaking of the “days of His [Jesus’] flesh” as past seems to imply that Jesus did not rise in the flesh and ascend into heaven in the same physical body in which He died. Yet Jesus Himself said that His resurrection body was one of “flesh and bones” (Luke 24:31) and the Apostles’ Creed confesses the “resurrection of the flesh.”
