The Nature Of The Beast
The Bible teaches that in the last days an antichrist alliance will rise to power—10 kings who give allegiance to the “beast” (Rev. 17:12–14).
While Scripture does not specify which nations make up the alliance, its religious orientation is clear.
Here are 10 reasons Islam is the religion of the beast:
1. MIDDLE EAST ORIGINS
According to the Bible, the beast kingdom will rise from the lands once ruled under the Babylonian, Persian, and Greek Empires (Dan. 7:3–7; Rev. 13:2).
Today, these same lands are ruled exclusively by Muslim-majority nations.
2. FALSE PROPHET
The beast is associated with a false prophet (Rev. 19:20, 20:10).
The founder of Islam is the self-proclaimed prophet Muhammad.
3. BEHEADING
The beast’s preferred method of execution is beheading by the sword (Rev. 13:10; 20:4).
Islam’s preferred method of execution is beheading by the sword: “When you encounter the infidels, strike off their heads” (Surah 47:4).
4. ANTI-CHRIST
The biblical definition of “antichrist” is one who denies that Jesus is the Son of God (1 John 2:22, 23).
Islam rejects the notion that God has a Son, as proclaimed by the mosaic inscriptions encircling its oldest shrine, the Dome of the Rock:
“Jesus, son of Mary, was only a messenger of God.”
“God has no son. It is blasphemy to say he has taken a son.”
“Far be it removed from His transcendent majesty that He should have a son.”
5. GOD’S NAME BLASPHEMED
The beast dishonors God’s name (Rev. 13:6).
The defining slogan of Islam, the Shahada, states that Allah (not Yahweh) is God: “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger.”
6. FALSE PEACE
The beast conceals his objective of world domination behind a peaceful façade (Dan. 8:25; 9:27).
The Islamic “taqiyya” doctrine allows Muslims to conceal their true objectives when it serves the advancement of their religion.
7. COMPELS WORSHIP
The beast forces people to submit to his religion (Rev. 13:12, 15–17).
The word “Islam” means “submission.” Moreover, the Koran instructs Muslims to fight against Christians and Jews until they submit (Surah 9:29).
8. RAPE AND KIDNAPPING
The beast’s followers attack Jerusalem, rifle the houses, rape the women, and take captives (Zech. 14:2).
Raping, pillaging, and kidnapping have been Islam’s modus operandi since the days of Muhammad, as demonstrated recently by the October 7 Hamas attack.
9. MARK OF THE BEAST
The beast forces all people to receive a mark:
“He forced all people … to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads … which is the name of the beast or the number of its name …. That number is 666” (Rev. 13:16–18).
Since the number of the beast is also a “name,” it is striking that the Greek characters translated “666” in the original New Testament—Chi Xi Stigma—look virtually identical to the Arabic phrase “Bismillah” (In the Name of Allah), followed by two crossed swords.
The Bismillah and crossed swords are a universally recognized symbol of Islam, appearing on Muslim flags, logos, badges, headbands, and armbands as a display of allegiance to Allah.

The crucial thing to understand about the mark—whether it manifests as a badge, implant, or something else—is that it is a declaration of worship of a false god, and those who receive it will be subject to eternal damnation (Rev. 14:10, 11).
10. A REVIVED KINGDOM
The beast kingdom is a revived version of a former one, which appeared to have suffered a deadly head wound:
“One of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole earth was amazed and followed the beast (Rev. 13:3).
The “head” of the Islamic world, which ruled over the Middle East and parts of Europe, Asia, and North Africa for six centuries, was the Ottoman Empire, or Caliphate, centered in modern-day Turkey.
While the Ottoman Empire was already in a state of decline by the early 1900s, the fatal blow came from its defeat by the Allies in World War I. Between 1920 and 1924, its territories were partitioned, the Caliphate system was abolished, and the secular state of Turkey was established in its place.

With Erdogan’s caliphate aspirations in view, it is significant that he just signed the “Mecca Joint Defense Agreement” with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, forming a NATO-like alliance between three of the most powerful Sunni Muslim nations:
• Turkey boasts the second largest military in NATO.
• Saudi Arabia possesses the world’s second-largest oil reserves.
• Pakistan is the only Muslim state with nuclear weapons.
What makes this alliance unprecedented is that it is devoid of U.S. involvement, demonstrating that Turkey and its security partners are seeking a new order that allows them—not Washington—to shape the region. And it is expected to grow. Other states considered likely to join include Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Jordan, and Syria.
The mix of strong and weak nations with divergent geopolitical interests echoes Daniel’s description of the fragile beast alliance:
“As the [ten] toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united” (Dan. 2:42, 43).
Even though it includes some weaker nations, Revelation describes the 10-nation coalition as formidable, asking, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?” (Rev. 13:4).
NUMERICAL COINCIDENCES
Having proposed a correlation between the beast kingdom and Erdogan’s Caliphate aspirations, here are some uncanny numerical coincidences:
• In English gematria, the numerical value of the name “Recep Erdogan” is 666—the number of the beast.
• In Hebrew gematria, the numerical value of the name “Recep” is 153, evoking 1 Thessalonians 5:3: “While people are saying, “Peace and security,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” This is striking because a core objective of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement is “promoting peace, security, and stability in the region.”
• In Hebrew gematria, the numerical value of the name “Recep Erdogan” is 340. While the number 340 is not significant in Scripture, the Strong’s biblical index associates it with two pertinent words: In the Hebrew, #340 is the word “ayab,” meaning “to be hostile” or “an enemy.” In the Greek, #340 is the word “anakainizó,” meaning to “restore” or “bring back.”
Could the Turkish president whose name equals 153 and 666, and who is increasingly “hostile” toward Israel, be the “enemy” to “bring back” the Caliphate? It is conceivable. However, it is unlikely that Erdogan is the Antichrist, who Scripture says will rise up after the formation of the 10-nation alliance (Dan. 7:24, 25).
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
According to the Bible, the beast:
• Emerges from the Middle East.
• Is associated with a false prophet.
• Beheads Christians and Jews.
• Rejects Jesus.
• Dishonors God’s name.
• Makes false peace.
• Compels worship.
• Rapes, pillages, and kidnaps.
• Forces people to receive a mark, which is his name or number.
• Is a revived version of a former kingdom, which manifests as a 10-king alliance.
Today, one of four people on earth is Muslim.
When innumerable Christians vanish at the Rapture, the ratio will be closer to one in three.
In those days, they will worship the beast for three-and-a-half years, until Jesus destroys him with the brightness of His coming (Rev. 13:5, 8; 2 Thess. 2:8).

6. In simple gematria, the numerical value of the name “Recep Erdogan” is 111. The three “ones” (111) are typically understood to signify the Holy Trinity, or completeness of God (1 John 5:7). However, because Satan’s primary operational tactic is to mimic or counterfeit the divine order, 111 can alternatively signify completeness pertaining to the “unholy trinity”—Satan, the Antichrist, and the false prophet (Rev. 20:10).

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: No one knows the day or hour of Jesus’ return (Matt. 24:36). However, a convergence of biblical signs and timelines suggests that it is near. To escape the judgment reserved for a God-rejecting world, one must know Jesus as Lord and Savior. If you have not yet done so, call on His name and believe that He is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose from the dead, and you will be saved (Rom. 10:13).
