First, it was a promise to Jacob\u2019s posterity who were brought back out of Egypt. This is indicated by the statement, \u201cI will make of you a great nation\u201d (v. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?version=NKJV&amp;search=Ge46.3\">3<\/a>). Second, Jacob was probably brought back from Egypt along with Joseph, though not alive (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?version=NKJV&amp;search=Ge50.25\">Gen. 50:25<\/a>; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?version=NKJV&amp;search=Ex13.19\">Ex. 13:19<\/a>).
