Real Church Growth

Is your church growing? Are you seeing new people come every week? If not why is your church not growing? Could it be that you need better music or a better minister?

What does the bible say is the way for church growth? Let us take a look:

We will look how the early church had growth

In Acts 2:46-47 we find:

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Notice a few things from these 2 verses

  • They were in one accord in the temple
  • They broke bread from house to house gladly
  • They had a singleness of heart
  • The praise God
  • And they had favour with all the people

So if we could get churches doing these 5 things, God himself would be added to it daily.

What does it mean to be in one accord?

In  Romans 15:5-6 we will find the answer

Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We need to be like minded in to each other in Jesus.  No fighting among ourselves. Not grumbling because we did not get our ways. We should be willing to lay our lives down for each other as Christ laid his life down. Is there someone hurting in your church; could you help them in love?

In Philippians 2:2-3 we find every more

Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Do we try to esteem others in the church better than we are? Do we gossip and tear our brothers and sisters down. Is there strife in our church? Who’s glory do we promote, “our worship team” or “our pastor”. We should be promoting the Glory Of God, not each other.

We need our churches be a place that promotes the Love of God, that opens and helps those that come with needs. If you see someone new greet them, love them, help them like the early church did.. Make them want to stay and grow in grace and love.

(please note all scripture came from the KJV Bible)
